This project was an individual challenge of 2 weeks and the goal was to build a SaaS product to help professional teams get their work done more effectively.
My Role
UX/UI Designer responsible for the complete process, from conducting user research to creating final designs, including wireframing, prototyping, and visual design.

OVERVIEW.
I had to create a product that uses a software-as-a-service (SaaS) revenue model. I went through the market and met with employees to determine the business needs and develop one minimum viable product (MVP). In this project, I had to consider two type of users:
Managers who make the purchasing decisions so it was important to show them a valuable service.
Employees who will actually use the product so the service has to solve their main pain points and answers their needs.

4 Quick Interviews
Quick interviews with 2 employees and 2 managers from 30 to 54 y.o and belonging to different organizations were conducted in order to discover their overall feeling and behavior while requesting vacation from the employee side and approving requests from the manager side.
9 Contextual Inquiries
I run 9 contextual inquiries with employees and managers to gain insights into pain and needs while managing leave requests. Candidates were 4 men and 5 women from 27 to 62 y.o working from different structures. I asked them to go through each step of a vacation request.
key takeaways.
The current leave management process is viewed by managers as overly complicated, time-consuming. They are annoyed with the amount of time allocated to a task that they perceive to be simple.
Correspondingly, employees are unhappy with the complex vacation request procedure that should be quick and straightforward. They feel frustrated with the lack of transparency of the overall process.
From the perspective of both managers and staff, the processes for managing leaves could be significantly streamlined and should not generate stress.

MAIN COMPETITORS.
I run a competitive analysis in order to search products that compete with my SaaS platform, so I could get design ideas and have a better understanding of the user's expectations. I finally came up to the conclusion that existing platforms helped companies to manage employees leaves but none of them were offering an intuitive and easy service where the employees could easily make a request based on available spots.

He is aware that with the Christmas period, there won’t be so many available spots. Martin wants to know the exact balance of his vacation days and book his vacations based on available dates. He wants to be notified as soon as the request is approved so he can prepare his holidays!
Teresa: is very overwhelmed because December is a busy period at work. She needs to quickly see the pending vacation requests of her team in order to approve or deny them before the end of the year. Teresa will check and accept Martin’s request.

TrackLeave appeals to “normal everyday workers” who have specific needs and requirements. Through its intuitively and transparency, the brand speaks to its audience in a simple and accessible way. The simple looking, simple talking approach shows that the brand doesn’t take itself too serious. It represents modernity and warmth as a feeling of welcoming for the workers. The first function of TrackLeave is a service for business but it wants to show more than a professional software by displaying warm, reassuring and support characteristics.
